Canoeing at the Olympic Reserve School

GUOR Bronnitsy

Throughout the history of the school, the kayaking and canoeing department has been leading. The first set (1996) consisted of 35 people, of which 21 were candidates for master of sports, 12 were masters of sports of Russia and two were masters of sports of international class. The first coaches of the department were Ya.Ya. Kostyuchenko, V.N. Loginov, I.D. Vaag, who worked in close contact and with the support of trainers and leaders of the Bronnitsy Sports School A.A. Kuzmina, A.G. Mikhailova and ShVSM of the Tver region N.P. Kovalev and S.L. Kim.

The history of the department is an integral part of the history of the school as a whole, therefore, everything was not so rosy here. The difficult year of 1999, when the issue of the further existence of the school was being decided, was also reflected in the fate of the department. Due to the reduction of the total contingent and funding, the number of athletes in the department has decreased to 20. Athletes and coaches were tested for strength and resilience. But, fortunately for us, the thunderclouds were able to be driven away, and in 2003 56 people were admitted to the department. Regardless of the total number of students, the pupils of the department made up from 60% to 75% of the contingent throughout all the years. And it is no coincidence: after all, the school is located on the banks of the rowing canal of Lake. Belskoe – one of the best in Russia, which welcomes competitions of various levels on its waters.

Since 2001, in connection with the strengthening of the material and technical base, the department has been actively working to expand the sphere of influence, being the initiator of concluding agreements on joint activities and joint training of athletes with sports schools in Ryazan, Voronezh, Pushkino, Chelyabinsk, Kostroma, Pskov, continuing to work with colleagues of the Tver and Bronnitskaya rowing schools. Coaches V.P. were invited to active cooperation in the school. Klinov, S.V. Verlin, A.V. Degtyarev, N.V. Mokryakova, I.V. and M.A. Zubaliy, V.A. Ikonnikov, V.V. Ustinovich, I.V. and A.B. Samoilovs, A.V. Kabanov. Thanks to this, the school is replenished with new promising athletes, and the methodological work at the school in preparing the reserve of the national teams of the Russian Federation is reaching a new level. The entire team of the sports department of the school works in a unified manner, trying to achieve model indicators and reach a higher level, corresponding to the state approach to training the sports elite. To do this, plans for the training of athletes are being reviewed, recovery measures are being selected individually, and inventory is being updated. Athletes of the school occupy in the starting lineup of the national teams of the Russian Federation at international competitions from 20 to 35%, always returning with medals. The department has always been staffed with highly qualified athletes. Already in the first year of work – 1997 – I.Kovalev, A. Cheerov, O. Krzilin, D. Kononets, S. Mikhailin and S. Duchkov became medalists of international competitions, bringing 13 medals to the piggy bank of the national team of the Russian Federation.
