The books are narrated from Katniss' point of view, while the movies are not. In this regard, the films have more storylines and scenes that reveal the story of other characters. At the same time, some things from the books are not revealed in the films, such as tesserae and the process of obtaining them, and therefore children from poor families were much more likely to be chosen as a tribute.
