More than 240 athletes from 50 regions of the country, including five representatives of Chuvashia, have already arrived in Japan as part of the delegation of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC).

The Paralympic Games in Tokyo will last almost two weeks – until September 5th. During these days, 539 sets of awards in 22 sports will be played.

The most medal-intensive sport is athletics. Four athletes from Chuvashia will compete in this discipline at once. Sergey Biryukov will compete for medals in the long jump sector on September 2. In this discipline, Sergey, the master of sports of Russia in the sport of persons with PDA, is the country's record holder (class T37).

On September 5, the closing day of the Paralympic Games, the winners in the marathon run will be determined. The distance of 42 km 195 meters among blind and visually impaired athletes will have to be overcome by Denis Gavrilov, who will be accompanied by an athlete – leader Sergey Ivanov throughout the entire route.

Parabadminton competitions, which were included in the program of the Summer Paralympic Games for the first time, will start on September 1. In the women's singles tournament, our country will be represented by the representative of Chuvashia, Tatyana Gureeva, an international master of sports, the absolute champion of the country among wheelchair athletes.
